About Madeline
Hi! I'm Madeline, a biology major with a passion for helping students build confidence and achieve their goals. My teaching experience includes developing literacy curriculum for under-resourced schools in Memphis, teaching English and science to children in Guatemala, and working with students of all ages in classrooms, camps, and mentoring programs.
I believe every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to their individual learning style and pace. Whether you're looking to improve your reading skills, strengthen your math foundation, master biology concepts, or practice Spanish, I'm committed to creating a supportive environment where questions are encouraged and progress is celebrated. My goal is not only to help students succeed academically but also to help them enjoy learning and become confident, independent learners.

As a tutor, I focus on creating lessons that are patient, encouraging, and personalized to each student’s needs. I like to begin by identifying what the student already understands, then build confidence through clear explanations, guided practice, and interactive activities. A typical lesson may include a short review, direct instruction, practice problems or reading support, and a final check for understanding.
What sets me apart is my experience teaching literacy, science, English, and creative enrichment to students of many ages, including in under-resourced schools in Memphis and in Antigua, Guatemala. I am also a biology major and IB Diploma graduate, which gives me a strong academic foundation in biology, Spanish, literacy, and math.
My lessons are best for elementary, middle school, and high school students who need extra support, confidence, or enrichment in Spanish, reading/literacy, math, or biology.
