About Amy

I’m a Biochemistry graduate with a Master’s degree. I’m about to begin my PhD, the next step toward my long-term goal of becoming a university professor and conducting scientific research. I am interested in science. I find it empowering to understand how the world works, and I'm always curious about what I'm teaching. I like keeping up with new scientific discoveries and enjoy helping students learn about how the concepts they are studying have relevance to the world outside. I have also experienced what it is to not be supported by school teachers. During my A-Levels, the pandemic meant I had to self-study large chunks of the curriculum. I learned to break down hard concepts into pieces and learn how the exams needed me to answer the questions to get full marks. I would use my understanding of how the exams work to help you boost your grades. My lessons are 1 hour long and tailored to your individual needs and learning style. If you prefer to learn visually using diagrams, then I adapt my teaching to your style. I tutor all ability GCSE and A-Level students with a focus on building confidence, deeper understanding, and exam achievement in a friendly supportive environment.

About the lesson

I offer 1-hour Biology and Chemistry tuition to both GCSE and A-Level students, tailored to suit your individual learning style. My teaching style is adaptive, each lesson will be made to be engaging and fit the way you learn best and your goals. For example, I use lots of diagrams for visual learners and active recall methods for exams. I'm a Master's graduate in Biochemistry and achieved A*s in A-Level Biology and Chemistry. I gained teaching experience at university, and I've always found it so satisfying when my fellow students really get to grips with the subjects I'm passionate about. Lessons suit sixth form and secondary school students of all abilities, if you want to boost yourself to a top grade or gain a better understanding of the subjects' fundamentals, I will work with you to build confidence.
