About Patrick
As a lifelong learner, I continuously extend my knowledge, embracing the wealth of resources available today to stay up-to-date in my field.
As a father of four, I’m no stranger to handling shenanigans with patience and good humor. My tutoring style is engaging, relatable, and adaptable — whether we’re using technology, visuals, or hands-on methods, I make sure each student feels supported. I frequently create videos to help explain complex topics and love diving into tangential subjects to make lessons fun, relevant, and interesting.
My goal is not just to teach biology but to inspire confidence, curiosity, and a genuine interest in the subject.

As a biology tutor with an M.S. in Biological Sciences from Clemson University and 15 years of experience teaching AP and Dual-Enrollment Biology, I focus on helping students truly understand biology rather than just memorize facts. My approach fosters a genuine love for learning by breaking down complex concepts into digestible parts and connecting them to real-world applications.
Teaching Method & Techniques
I tailor my teaching methods to the needs of each student. Whether through interactive discussions, visual aids, or hands-on activities, I make learning enjoyable and relevant. For students who struggle with specific challenges (from special education to college-level coursework), I adapt my lessons to ensure they feel confident and engaged.
Typical Lesson Plan
A typical session begins with reviewing previous material and addressing any gaps in understanding. I then introduce new topics using a mix of explanations, examples, and active practice. The lesson ends with a brief summary and a discussion of how the material fits into the broader scope of biology, making connections across topics.
What Sets Me Apart
My students frequently share that they feel better prepared for college biology courses compared to their peers. This feedback comes from my ability to demystify difficult concepts and create a supportive, engaging learning environment. Whether you’re preparing for an AP exam, need help with dual-enrollment coursework, or simply want to deepen your understanding of biology, I make sure my lessons leave a lasting impact.
Who My Lessons Are For
I work with students at all levels—from high school to college. Whether you're in an AP course, a dual-enrollment class, or even need individualized support due to learning differences, I’m here to help you succeed.
