About Ellie

Hello! My name is Ellie. I am from the UK however have lived in Jamaica, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil and Serbia. I have been tutoring and working with young people since I was in High School, where I began on a voluntary basis. I have pursued teaching, tutoring and supporting young people professionally for the past 3 years.

I have a B.Sc. in Biology from the University of Manchester, where I specialised in Evolutionary Biology and Animal Behaviour. I completed the International Baccalaureate at an American International School.

I am passionate about learning and about the sciences, with a particular passion for the life sciences, and I would love to support you on your academic journey. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions!

About the lesson

I am a patient and encouraging tutor with great attention to detail in terms of gaps in your knowledge and what you need to know to achieve the grades that you want to achieve.
I focus on ensuring that you understand the concept rather than just getting you to memorize facts, as I believe this leads to greater retention and much higher performance on exams. I ensure that you have a thorough understanding of and are familiar with the mark scheme of the exam you are sitting, and together we will do past papers and exam-style questions.
I am diligent in making sure you have covered everything you need to know for an exam. I am happy to work in a way that suits you. If you are looking for support with your current homework tasks and coursework, I can provide this. Or, if you are looking for extra tuition to help you better understand your syllabus, I will create a systematic support plan that meets your needs and helps you achieve your goals.

I conduct my classes with an awareness of barriers to learning such as emotional and learning difficulties. I am a sensitive and kind tutor, ensuring that you feel comfortable and relaxed so that you are able to learn more effectively. I know that at times, academic stress can be overwhelming, and as your tutor, I am here to support you through this. I have experience teaching and supporting young people with ADHD, autism, dyspraxia and emotional and behavioural difficulties, and I bring this experience to class with me. I know that the whole person comes to class, and as such, I am prepared to support you wholly to help you achieve your version of academic success.
I tutor ages 13 -20, and a range of syllabuses including GCSE, iGCSE, A-Level, and IB (International Baccalaureate).
