I’m a stem cell scientist and former tutor for first-year molecular biology laboratories at the University of Queensland. Teaching approach:
Diagnostic check-in to identify gaps, concept-first explanations, Socratic questioning, visual models and analogies from lab practice, scaffolded problem-solving, and targeted practice with past HSC-style questions. I build exam technique (marking criteria, timing, short/long-response structure) and use spaced retrieval and feedback to lock in learning.
Lesson length:
Typically 60–90 minutes, once or twice weekly, with flexible intensives before assessments.
