About Melissa
I am currently undertaking a teaching placement year whilst studying, teaching many students from ages 11 to 18 in all sciences to GCSE, and biology and chemistry to A Level, as well as maths up to GCSE. I have helped many students by doing 1-1 sessions, explaining in depth not only the knowledge required for their exams, but in a way that helps the students understand what they are being taught, and providing them with the correct information to make links between different topics and subjects which will allow them to further understand the topic and develop a passion for the subjects they are learning as well

I have just finished my second year of university, and I am now undertaking a placement year at a school specialising in the science department, doing both teaching and teaching assistant work, working from with year 7 to 13. I like to work with how the students feel most comfortable learning, whether that be by going through everything with a fine tooth comb, going over work they have been given at school, doing exam practice or revising topics that they don't feel confident with. This can be done in a visual way or through discussion, based on how they best feel they learn, and I am willing to go to extra lengths to ensure that the content the students learn is memorable, but that they also understand it, as opposed to just knowing information that they will later forget. I'd like to say I am a flexible tutor, able to adapt to the needs of each in every student. I believe that students should be given the opportunity to develop passions, but also work on the subjects they struggle with most, and providing them with the framework to make deeper connections, so that the information they learn at school isn't just for the exams that they will take, but so that they remember it and can apply it later in life
