About Jim
I graduated with a B.HSc. from McMaster University in 2020 and remained at the institution as a research associate for one year where I mentored senior undergraduate students completing lab-based research projects. Currently, I have enrolled in the Bachelor of Education program at the University of Ottawa where I am training to teach high school biology and chemistry. I have three years of experience tutoring first- and second-year undergraduate students in biology, chemistry, and statistics.

Teaching mustn't exist as a one-size-fits-all discipline. My approach to tutoring involves working with the individual to find which methods work best for them. Using a multimedia approach, students are given PowerPoint resources that feature text-based explanations, pictorial diagrams, and video links to enrich the student's understanding of concepts.
I am knowledgeable in my subject fields and support students by nurturing the conceptual framework without simply providing answers. Additionally, I try to solidify understanding by relating concepts to current events in the real world.
My lessons are best suited for students in grades 9-12 and first-year college/university.
