About Tobias
I graduated from Sacramento State with a degree in Biological Sciences and have worked in biotech laboratories, assisted with COVID testing, and worked in student support roles.
I’ve found that the hidden advantage to studying science or math is to understand that they're just ways of describing the world we already live in, we're just giving our imaginations context and something relatable to grasp onto.
Fun facts time: Both of my parents are deaf and I spoke ASL at home growing up.
I have a wonderfully round orange cat named Oskar who is my best friend. He looks like a creamsicle-striped teddy bear.
I like cooking because it's like a laboratory but delicious and you can share with the people you love!
I love art, music, and comedy! They make the moments between groundbreaking science experiments a little more fun.

What sets me apart from other tutors is that I have a one-of-a-kind personality that can keep modern students engaged while working. I find that relatability and humor is the key for alleviating students of discouragement or distraction so that they learn to encourage themselves by letting their spark of curiosity drive their future studies.
My lessons are for students learning elementary-level science and math, up to those learning college undergrad biology and chemistry. I base our sessions on the course syllabus/lesson plan the student is studying, but extended lessons can be discussed.
My base teaching method is to first help the student feel comfortable and ready to learn by getting to know each other while we talk about what our goals for tutoring are.
Once we have a plan, I reinforce the material taught in the classroom, expand upon it, and adapt instruction to the student in order to deliver a comprehensive education and prepare them for the next step in their life.
