About Shanelle

I am a second year Biomedical Sciences student at the University of Edinburgh originally from France. I speak French (first language) and English fluently, as I have been studying in english for the past twelve years. Living internationally for twelve years has allowed me to be exposed to various cultures, international backgrounds and teaching methods. I have one year of experience in tutoring French to English speakers. I privately tutored three students and followed their progress for a year. Some of the students I had who were initially failing French were able to reach their goal of being able to keep up in class and eventually began to see an improvement in their results. Others became more confident while also beginning to enjoy speaking the language (when initially it was very challenging for them). I am familiar with the European Framework (CEFR examinations), including the Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française (DELF) for levels A1-B2. I have tutored students preparing the DELF A1 and A2.

About the lesson

I will always find a way to adapt and adjust my teaching methods according to the type of student by catering to their needs and learning objectives. I give learning support, help with homework and with exam preparation. In addition, I can offer lessons to improve conversation and therefore enhance speaking skills.
To make the learning meaningful, I do my best to connect the lesson content with real life situations. This gives students the opportunity to understand and improve their language skills by actually using the language in a more authentic context. I am easy going and flexible and will work around my tutees and their needs. I am organised and work well with others, whatever the age range! Hope to hear from you soon!
