About Rosalie

I am a French theatre professional who has been based in the UK for over ten years, having originally come here to go through the British school system myself. With all my family still in Paris, I genuinely straddle both French and English cultures, which makes me uniquely placed to help English-speaking students navigate the French language and all its nuances.

Having studied entirely within the English system, I know exactly what GCSE and A-Level French demands, not just as a native speaker, but as someone who sat those very exams and achieved A* across my French and English GCSEs and A-Levels. I went on to study English Literature at the University of Bristol, which further deepened my understanding of language, structure, and communication across both cultures.

Now based in London, I work as a freelance tutor alongside a career in theatre, a world that has sharpened my instinct for expression, storytelling, and bringing language to life. I bring that same energy and creativity into my lessons, making French feel less like a subject to be studied and more like a language to be lived.

My approach:
I believe the biggest barrier to speaking a foreign language isn't grammar – it's confidence. My lessons are designed to create a safe, encouraging environment where you feel comfortable to go for it, make mistakes, and learn from them. Speaking another language is about taking a leap, and I'm here to make that leap feel natural.
Lessons typically run between 40 minutes and one hour, depending on your needs and concentration levels. I adapt my pace and methodology to each individual student rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.

Experience & qualifications:
I have hands-on experience working in sixth forms, supporting students one-on-one and in small groups for A-Level French preparation. I have an in-depth understanding of the GCSE and A-Level curricula and what examiners are looking for – so no time is wasted on what doesn't matter.
