About Sally
I’m a bilingual English–Mandarin speaker with a background in psychology and lived experience studying and living across Taiwan, Australia, the UK, and Europe. As someone who learned and used English in different cultural and academic settings, I understand the communication challenges, pressure, and adjustment that can come with studying or living abroad. My cross-cultural exposure allows me to work confidently with learners from diverse backgrounds and to adapt to different communication styles, expectations, and learning needs. I take a calm, patient, and supportive approach, and I value creating an environment where students feel understood, respected, and encouraged.

I offer personalised, calm, and confidence-focused support for English as a second language learners. My lessons focus on helping students express themselves clearly, speak with confidence, and develop practical strategies they can use in everyday and academic contexts.
With lived experience, I’m attentive to how pressure, anxiety, and self-doubt can affect learning. Lessons are well-prepared and structured, with custom slides, visual aids, videos, and self-learning resources tailored to each student’s goals and level. I aim to make learning engaging, clear, and manageable rather than overwhelming.
I have experience teaching VCE Chinese (online and in person), peer tutoring ESL learners, and supporting IELTS-related preparation through strategy-based guidance. Having studied and lived in English-speaking environments myself, I understand the challenges of transition and create a supportive space where students feel encouraged and motivated.
I primarily work with high school students and adult learners, but I’m open to learners of all ages and levels.
