About LUZ

I have taught students from backgrounds and demographics, from children who will spend summer at a number of prestigious summer camps throughout the country (Field Musuem summer camp teacher) or even across the globe to my students who are living in Chicago intercity. I have worked as a classroom teacher in CHICAGO Public Schools for over 15 years. Still, I feel what I enjoy about teaching is the opportunity to engage students in a journey that together we set on to become more curious about this world and the talents or gifts they have yet to discover. In my over twenty years, I have never had the same journey with a class or student. I feel in all the years of teaching, I have learned a lot of tools to help me be a better teacher who guides my students in becoming I dare say for the most part more enthusiastic about learning and about who they are as learners. My approach to teaching is develop a genuine relationship and to guide the learning so it is engaging and fun. I enjoy learning too and also pushing myself to grow in areas I didn't even know I could enjoy growing in. Hence, I coach basketball, soccer,lead the school garden,lead Calm Classroom, certified to teach Trauma Informed Yoga to children. Yes, I am big proponent for outdoor learning, Field Museum Ambassador. Well, in addition am a mom of four amazing kids, 1 dog, 1 grand dog, lots of grand reptiles (my oldesr son is a Zookeeper).

About the lesson

Teaching to me is all about relationships and filling students needs or goals. My lessons can be personalized. Depending on areas needing growth, interest, preferred learning style.

If someone is just looking for Spanish conversation and interest is in sports, we can discuss Sports news reports.

If seeking to improve writing as well for example as well then there could be practice writing on the interest, for example on the sport.

Hence, depending on your interest, I can try to personalize the skills of learning to read, write or participate more in conversational Spanish.

I am flexible to create a personalized plan or help tutor someone having difficulties with their existing homework or coursework from school. Very flexible.
