About Gia Ariela
I’m Gia, a current UC Berkeley student studying Communications and an Oakland Promise Scholar. I grew up speaking Spanish at home — it’s my first language — so I don’t just teach Spanish, I live it. That means my students get authentic, natural language, not just what’s in a textbook.
Outside of school, I’m involved in leadership and communications work on campus, and I have real experience working directly with people in fast-paced, customer-facing environments. I’m patient, adaptable, and genuinely enjoy helping others reach their goals. Teaching Spanish feels natural to me because I love the language and the culture behind it, and I want my students to feel that same confidence and passion with my lessons.

My lessons are built around you — your goals, your pace, and what you actually need from Spanish. As a native Spanish speaker and UC Berkeley student, I bring both authentic language knowledge and a real understanding of how students learn.
A typical lesson starts with a quick check-in on what you want to work on, then we dive in — whether that’s practicing conversation, breaking down grammar for a class assignment, or running through phrases for an upcoming trip. I don’t follow a rigid script. Every session is flexible and tailored to where you are and where you want to go.
What sets me apart is that I’m bilingual and grew up speaking Spanish at home, so I teach the way people actually talk — not just textbook Spanish. I also study Communications at Berkeley, so I know how to explain things clearly and keep lessons engaging.
My lessons are open to everyone: kids, teens, and adults, from complete beginners to more advanced learners who just want to sharpen their skills. Whether you’re trying to pass a class, hold a conversation, or survive your first trip abroad, I’ve got you.
