About Izzy
Hello! I am a producer, composer, and songwriter, and bassist from Detroit, Michigan. I have been using music technology since I was 10 years old, and worked as an audio engineer in a world-renowned Detroit recording studio in high school. I am now studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston. At Berklee, I am playing and arranging in the highest ensembles and productions the school has to offer. I also produce/mix for artists and record in studio sessions multiple times a week. I have achieved this with intense practice and truly absorbing and enjoying so many styles of music. I can produce electronic music, jazz, rock, funk, rock, reggae, metal, pop, and Latin music! I have a great passion for teaching others how to further their skills and create joy with music. - I use a student-centered approach, focusing on styles and genres the student is interested in and then combining that with technique and theory. I teach modern genres like EDM as well as indie pop/rock, ambient, and experimental styles.
- A typical lesson plan might go like this:
- A quick introduction (if needed),
- Going over last week's assignment
- Learning a new technique and examples of it in songs
- Choosing an assignment with the student that they will enjoy and be inspired to practice
- Going over what we learned today and saying goodbye until the next lesson!
- What matters the most to me as a tutor is that the student keeps their passion for music alive! With my method, I have been able to achieve quick and lasting progress with students and they are always excited to open their DAW.
- I teach all levels, from the first song a student produces all the way up to advanced electronic production techniques.
