About Ben

I am a tutor with 5 years of experience based in Sugar Land, TX. I first discovered my passion for teaching during COVID-19, when I began tutoring young children in English, some as young as 5 years old. Since then, I have worked with a wide range of students, from lower primary school through 11th grade. My favorite subject is history, and I have a strong passion for the social sciences as a whole. These subjects allow students to think critically, communicate clearly, and better understand the world around them, which are skills I aim to foster in every session. I also bring 6 years of experience with teaching and tutoring based around Model United Nations, including co-leading projects such as MUN Bootcamp, a one-week long summer course aimed at teaching the basics of Model UN to elementary and middle schoolers, and organizing a seminar at the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam. These experiences have helped me guide students not only academically, but also in leadership, writing, and public speaking.

About the lesson

I have 2 years of experience teaching and taking the Digital SAT (more than most tutors) since I took the exam early when it launched internationally. This gave me a head start in recognizing patterns in the new format, which I now teach in a clear, strategic, and results-driven way.

I also have a strong background in writing. As a multiple-time essay contest finalist, including a $1,000 award from Stossel in the Classroom, I help students develop essays that are not only grammatically strong but also thoughtful, persuasive, and competitive.
