About August
I am a college student (hence the less expensive lessons), so I don’t have all the knowledge in the world. I do however have a score of 5 (out of 5) on the AP music theory final exam. I also have 4 years of choir experience, 6 years of piano experience, and multiple state level awards for choir and small ensemble performances. In my studies, I have a current 4.0 GPA average focusing in vocal performance at the Southern Oregon University.

My curriculum is based on what would be taught in a typical advanced placement music theory class/early collegiate music theory class (which can get very expensive!). We can start from the very basics of music, or we can jump right into the deep end! Some specific skills we would cover could consist of the following:
-Music Basics
-Scales and Modes
-Chord Theory
-Phrasing and Cadences
-Voice leading
-Basics of Composition
-Modulation
-Sight reading
-Ear training (sight reading and dictation)
If this is overwhelming, that is completely ok! We will move at whatever pace you feel comfortable with and start wherever you’d like!
This is a great option if:
-You are a beginner and don’t know where to start
-You want to impress your friends with some piano skills
-You are looking for a budget option to learn about music
-You need some help with music homework (especially ideal for current AP theory students wanting to earn a 5 on that exam!)
Maybe look elsewhere if:
-You are looking for a string or wind instrument teacher.
-You are wanting to dive into more advanced collegiate music theory.
-You want to learn how to play football.
-You are hoping to cover highly advanced piano techniques.
