About John
I work with first-year students in a university setting, but, have taught high school and middle school students in the past. The church choir I lead is full of adult learners, so, I have spanned the gamut in terms of age. Having worked abroad, I find myself listening to students with less assumption up front. I try and get to know my students, their backgrounds, strengths, areas of improvement, and work toward tools that will carry them forward in the future.

I've been fascinated with breaking complex ideas down into student-focused learning tools. Whether I'm teaching writing or music, I find ways that relate to the students' interests/background and apply them to the task. I'm patient and have a lot of positive energy!
