About Emma
I'm Emma, and biology has basically been my life for the last 6 years. I started out in Santa Monica, kept going through Santa Barbara, and now I'm finishing up my nursing degree in Irvine, CA. Along the way, biology stopped being just a subject I studied for tests and became something I actually live in — as a nursing student, I use anatomy, physiology, cell biology, and genetics constantly, not just to pass exams but to understand real patients and real situations. I also work part-time as a food runner at a fine dining restaurant, so if there's one thing I know how to do, it's stay calm and explain things clearly when everything's moving fast. I tutor the way I wish someone had taught me patient, straightforward, and focused on actually understanding the "why" behind the science instead of just memorizing it.

Most bio tutors learned the material once, aced the test, and moved on. I haven't had that luxury — I've had to actually use biology every single day for 6 years straight, through three different cities and a nursing program that doesn't let you fake understanding. If you don't get the concept, you don't pass clinicals.
That means when I explain something to you, it's not me reciting a textbook definition. It's me explaining it the way I had to learn to explain it to myself, at 1am, right before an exam that actually mattered.
