About Mbali

Hi, I'm a 19-year-old student currently studying towards a BCom in Marketing Management. English has always been one of my strongest subjects, and I've carried that passion into tutoring, where I get to help students build the same confidence in reading, writing, and grammar that I developed throughout my own schooling. Although I am early in my tutoring journey, I take every lesson seriously and prepare thoroughly to ensure my students get real value from our time together. I believe good tutoring isn't just about knowing the subject, it's about explaining it clearly, listening to where a student is struggling, and adjusting my approach until it clicks. I'm patient, reliable, and genuinely invested in helping my students improve, whether that means tackling a tricky essay, understanding grammar rules, or simply becoming more confident readers and writers. I am great with shy students and catering to different learning styles. I look forward to working with you and supporting your learning journey.

About the lesson

As a current BCom Marketing Management student with a strong passion for English, I bring a fresh, relatable perspective to tutoring. Having recently gone through school and exams myself, I understand exactly where students struggle and what actually helps, not just textbook theory. My approach is patient, encouraging, and tailored to each student's pace, focusing on building genuine understanding rather than rote memorisation.

What makes me unique is my ability to break down complex grammar rules and writing techniques into simple, practical steps, using real-world examples (drawing on my marketing background to make lessons more engaging and relevant). I create a relaxed, judgement-free environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, because that's how real learning happens.

I am fluent in English and Afrikaans and I am able to tutor entirely in English.

A typical lesson starts with a quick check-in on what the student is currently working on or struggling with, followed by focused practice on that area, whether it's grammar, essay structure, comprehension, or vocabulary. I use a mix of explanation, guided practice, and independent exercises, always checking for understanding along the way. Lessons are interactive rather than passive, and I encourage questions throughout. Each session ends with a short recap and, where useful, a small task to reinforce what was covered.

My lessons are best suited to primary and high school learners who use UK English as a medium of studying, who need support with English grammar, essay writing, reading comprehension, and general language skills. I'm particularly well-suited to students who feel intimidated by more formal or strict teaching styles and students who have a short attention span, as I aim to make lessons feel supportive, pressure-free and feel like you are chatting with your best friend.
