About Vittoria

I am a Politics and International Studies graduate from the University of Warwick, and an incoming master's student at the University of Essex, where I am going to study Human Rights. Even though I have been living in the UK for three years, I am originally from Italy. I have been studying French for years and in different countries: I started in my home country, became fluent in the UK, and took summer courses at the LSF French Language School in Montpellier, France. In terms of qualifications, I passed the DELF A2 with 85 when I was only 14 back in Italy, and passed my French exams with First Class grades (especially in the areas I will be tutoring - oral and writing expression) all three years of my bachelor's studies. In Montpellier, I was always put in advanced class groups and released with C1 diplomas. Throughout the years I have studied both everyday language and business vocabulary.
I know what it feels like to be a student: I have been learning my whole life and I am aware of the techniques that are helpful. I also know what it feels like to be a teacher: I have been tutoring different subjects since I was in high school, where I would teach supplementary classes to my peers part-time. My tutoring skills were definitely enhanced at university, where I taught English in a refugee centre for two years as a volunteer, and my experience as a Student Trainer at university. I look at tutoring not only as a way of supporting those who want to learn more, but also as a developmental opportunity for myself.

About the lesson

I usually start from the student's request and needs. If I am tutoring to high school students, who are already studying French and are in need of extra practice, I will start with their exercises and then make up new ones that can help tackle their weaknesses. I usually like to focus a lot on strengthening grammar and vocabulary when it comes to the writing practice, and on fluency and confidence - rather than perfection - when it comes to the oral practice. I am very friendly and empathetic, but I also expect discipline and hard work.

I usually charge 15 pounds per hour - first lesson for free. Our free lesson will be an opportunity to get to know each other, identify the student's needs and see if I can help. Online classes only.
