About Cara
Hi there! My name is Cara. I am studying a Bachelor of Science in Queensland, and have quite a varied background. I have worked in a laboratory, at a school, and at a pool. All of this has helped me overcome my own struggles with learning. The worst feeling is thinking you're never going to just 'get' something. When in fact, this is the best place to start! It may take more time, but you will end up feeling far more prepared. I find that no matter how much time you spend thinking you know something, you will always be able to learn something new - and it's usually from students! I am about to undertake my final semester of my undergraduate degree and am looking forward to entering into an Honors or Masters program. I am here to help, and no question is ever too outlandish. If I don't know something, I will go and learn more about it myself, so we can learn together. Honesty is the best policy.

I believe that there is no such thing as not being good at a subject - everybody learns differently, and it's about finding what makes your brain tick and how you understand new information. Achieving high results doesn't mean much for the future if there is no work ethic behind it. I want to foster critical thinking and independent learning in students, to prepare them for future studies.
Typical length of a lesson will be between 30 minutes to an hour, unless otherwise requested.
I have worked in a primary school and high school as a tutor and teacher aide, teaching math up to grade 10; and science and humanities up to grade 12. I am passionate about helping students learn and have further experience as a debating coach and swimming instructor. I have also undertaken some education electives at university.
I am happy to teach any age and any level. As long as a student is trying to learn, there is always help at hand!
