About Ilsa
I've worked as a high school music teacher, professional musician, beginner/intermediate piano teacher, and professional oboe instructor. I love music and have a high retention rate with students. I work hard to maintain my own musical skills, seeking out opportunities to continue to perform and always aspire to create and maintain a love of music in students.

My lessons focus on a mix of building up important foundational skills, musical interpretation, and general enjoyment of the instrument. I want students to always feel a sense of progress at the end of a lesson and to have clear and achievable goals to work on before their next lesson. I want students to have strong foundations from the beginning to help them progress more rapidly and avoid common blocks that oboists encounter at some point in their journey. I also put a strong emphasis on developing musical interpretations that extend beyond just what is written on the page. I can provide guidance with reed making and assist with many common issues.
