About Bonnie
I'm Bonnie Humber. I graduated from Nipissing University, North Bay, Ontario with my BFA degree in 2015. Since then, I've been developing my art and my skills by entering art competitions, special art classes, and through experimentation. In 2020 I was able to find gallery representation at Martello Alley in Kingston Ontario. I have paintings in both private and public collections throughout Canada, and in New York, and in Virginia.
I enjoy all kinds of art, especially surrealism and impressionism.

About the lesson

My teaching method is for the student to pick the topic that they want to improve on, and I create a lesson based on that topic. Before the lesson, I contact the student with a list of what they will need. ex. paper, pencil, acrylic paint.
A typical lesson lasts about 2 hours and starts with 10-15 minutes of warm up sketching. During this time we'll discuss the topic of the lesson, ex. composition, texture, mood, form or the topic chosen by the student.
After warm up, we review examples that refer to the topic of the day, such as historical references, or modern uses. After review, we practice specific exercises that can be referenced to when working on a final art work. Exercises will take about an hour.
Finally, we take time to discuss your art, any questions you have relating to your art or art practice. I'll give you my thoughts as to what you have done well, and what areas you can focus on improving.
These lessons are for intermediate level artists. People who know the basics, but want to improve more. People who are passionate about making art.
