About Kara-liv
I taught English in Vietnam for a year, before returning to South Africa. I have a 100 TEFl certificate and a bachelors degree in History and Classical History from Rhodes University. While I studied there, I also learnt English Literature, Mandarin, Art History, and Fine Arts.
I am a passionate teacher because I used to struggle at school. I have ADD, and so learning the normal way was hard - but then I learnt what my study style was.
I am dedicated to helping others find a learning style that works for them - it's out there I promise!

About the lesson

I offer thirty to fourty-five minute lesson plans that are personalized to your needs.
I work with all ages and I specialise in working with people who have learning disabilities - together we can reframe content into something more catered to your needs and interests.
Preferably, my fourty-five minute lesson plans would include 15 minutes of discussion and active learning, and then 10 minutes of practical activity where I can coach a student through the problem area. The last 10 minutes would consist of the student exploring their skills and letting me assist as they progress through the issue.
With younger children, or people who have more trouble, I would suggest 15 minutes of learning, and then create an activity that turns the point of issue into a game, and together we would spend time "playing" through it. Half an hour lessons exist so that if a student cannot pay attention for a full fourty-five minutes, we can compress our lesson and they can complete "homework" activities after absorbing and decompressing from the lesson.
I also provide resources and booklets that you can use outside of our lessons to help you in your free time.
I have experience teaching children English in Vietnam, as well as tutoring high school and university students. Anyone who needs help is welcome to ask me for it!
