About Sam
I’m a Sydney based screen composer working across film, TV and video games. My work focuses on creating music that supports story, emotion and world building, and I’ve had the opportunity to work on a range of projects across different styles and formats.
I’m the recipient of the 2025 APRA AMCOS Professional Development Award in Screen Music, and my work has also been recognized at the APRA Screen Music Awards. Alongside my composing work, I’ve released original music as an artist, with songs featured on Triple J and a music video broadcast on MTV.
I’ve also worked in an educational setting, developing curriculum and mentoring students in music and audio at JMC Academy.
I enjoy helping other composers develop their skills and find their own creative voice, while building a strong and practical understanding of how music works in real projects.

My composition lessons are focused on helping you develop your own musical voice while building practical skills used in real world composing. As a working screen composer, I guide you through writing music that supports story, emotion and world building across film, TV and video games.
Lessons can cover melody and harmony, structure, orchestration, working with sample libraries, and music production. I can also help with scoring to picture, developing themes, and building a portfolio, depending on your goals.
I teach all levels, from beginners through to more advanced composers and aspiring professionals. Whether you’re starting from scratch or looking to refine your craft, lessons are tailored to your interests and creative direction.
The focus is always on making music that works in a real creative context, not just theory on its own, so you leave each session with practical skills you can apply immediately.
