About Heather

I am an award winning Documentary Photographer who gained my Bachelor of Photography with Honours majoring in Photojournalism and Documentary Practice from Queensland College of Art.

As a freelance Documentary Photographer I have travelled to India, Singapore and Hong Kong on long-form Documentary Fieldtrips with an exclusive group of creatives and taken part in workshops with internationally renowned photographers that assisted us to produce work that has been published internationally. Throughout my career I have had the opportunity to produce photography in many different forms, including:

- Documentary Photography and Photojournalism
- Environmental Portraits
- Landscape + Urban Photography
- Studio Family, Newborn and Maternity Photography
- Wedding, Engagement and Couple Photography
- Portraiture
- 35mm, Medium & Large Format photography (including dark room printing and developing)

I am passionate about photography the connection it gives me to the world around me and I love what I do and sharing my passion passion with others. Having the experience to shoot confidently and proficiently in a diverse range of lighting scenarios, I have a wealth of knowledge to share.

However, I also believe that a skilled professional is one that knows that the learning never stops and I pride myself on being a lifelong student who continually pushes myself to grow and evolve no matter what level I progress to. As such, I am always learning from the talented creatives I work with and value the creative feedback loop that tutoring provides.

About the lesson

Photography is my one true love and I love sharing this with the world. As a documentary photographer, I see photography as a language that connects us to the world. I believe that everyone has a story and photography can be an incredibly fulfilling way to ground yourself in the world around you. As a professional and technically trained photographer with experience in many different fields of photography - from fashion, portraiture, and commercial photography to film, street photography, and photojournalism - I have extensive knowledge that I am dying to share with you.

Then you're in the right place! My lesson plans are fun and relaxed and provide a personalized approach that is as unique as the individual and create a supportive environment for you to reach your goals.

Each lesson is 1.5 hours and will take place in your home or via zoom. I will first assess your experience level and what you want to accomplish and will then create a personalized lesson plan with weekly tasks to help you advance your photography.

Services include:

- One-on-one and group tutoring for adults and children in your home or via zoom
- Photo walks - getting out into the field to get inspired and create art - day and night excursions
- On-shoot mentoring to provide a supportive voice that will help you push your creativity
- Portfolio critique
