About Maya

Hi! I am a first-year unimelb student studying science and majoring in genetics. In my free time I love to go rock climbing, hiking, snowboarding, or hang out with my friends or cats! I decided to start tutoring as being a recent Year 12 student, I truly understand the feeling of sitting in a classroom while the teacher goes through a dated PowerPoint, feeling absolutely lost. Content heavy subjects can feel incredibly intimidating, and I love to help others break them down. Whether it's the complexities of VCE Bio and Psych or building a solid foundation in Year 7–10 Math and English, I believe no subject is too difficult once it’s explained the right way for each student.

About the lesson

I provide engaging, application-guided tutoring for VCE Biology and Psychology, as well as Year 7–10 Math and English. My methodology focuses on breaking down content-heavy VCE subjects into more manageable concepts, with emphasis on exam technique and specific VCAA terminology that will secure top marks. For younger students, I prioritize building confidence in core math and English skills that are essential to further education and VCE. I also aim to help all students with organization and creating good study habits which is crucial in maintaining study/life balance.

I bring over a year of formal experience tutoring middle school and VCE students, alongside an additional year of volunteer experience helping younger students manage their homework and study loads. This has taught me how to adapt my teaching style to any level and any student, whether we are breaking down complex VCE coursework or building confidence in foundational numeracy and literacy skills.

Lesson Structure:
