As a math and science tutor specializing primarily in high school geometry, trigonometry, algebra, and occasionally precalculus and chemistry. I employ a comprehensive approach to sharing knowledge and helping students excel in these subjects. I believe in engaging students actively during lessons through discussions, problem-solving activities, and utilizing visual aids such as diagrams, graphs, and illustrations to enhance comprehension and make abstract concepts more tangible. I also try to tailor my teaching to meet the unique needs and learning styles of each student. I provide personalized guidance and support to ensure that students grasp the material effective.
As an introduction, I find a base for the student to start with by finding questions from topics that are easier for them or a level lower from their specific course. From then on, I begin each lesson by reviewing previous concepts and connecting them to the new material. The new topics are presented clearly and are broken down into manageable parts. The best way that I have been taught and continue to teach to others is to have them try a new problem first without being given an example or have the work done for them. This makes sure to find errors early on and correct them so that they can not only memorize, but learn through their problem-solving approach strategy. I also guide students through a series of practice problems, gradually increasing the difficulty level to reinforce their understanding and build confidence. At the end, I will usually summarize the main points of the lesson and address any remaining questions or concerns. Homework can be assigned based on the client's preference.
