About Xavier

Hi! My name is Xavier, and I’m from Quebec, Canada.

I’ve always been passionate about languages, and I really enjoy helping people overcome personal challenges and reach their goals. I’ve been tutoring for several years and have had the opportunity to work with students from many different backgrounds.

Outside of teaching, I’m also an actor and a musician, with training in jazz singing and composition. I’ve published fiction and poetry, and artistic creation plays an important role in my life.

I’m a curious and open-minded person, and I enjoy learning about different cultures and getting to know the people I teach. I believe that a relaxed and supportive atmosphere makes it easier to learn, ask questions, and feel comfortable making mistakes.

About the lesson

My lessons are structured and adapted to each student’s level, goals, and needs. I use textbooks and written exercises to work on grammar, conjugation, vocabulary, and sentence structure, with a clear progression from one lesson to the next.

As students progress, speaking takes up an increasingly important part of the lessons. Depending on each student’s needs, I can also incorporate reading, listening comprehension, role-playing, and other types of exercises. I regularly assign homework and encourage my students to write short texts so that they can continue practicing French between lessons.

For students learning French in order to live in Canada, Quebec French pronunciation, vocabulary, and expressions can also be gradually incorporated. For students preparing for the TEF or TCF, I also offer targeted practice, including simulated speaking exam situations and written exercises with detailed corrections.

Finally, I believe that personal study and regular exposure to French outside of lessons are essential for making progress.
