Learn Art with an Experienced and Encouraging Art Educator
With more than 30 years of art-teaching experience, I provide patient, personalized instruction designed to help each student strengthen their artistic skills, explore their creativity, and develop confidence in their unique artistic voice.
My Teaching Approach
I believe art is both a skill and a form of personal expression. My lessons combine clear, step-by-step instruction with creative freedom. I meet students at their current ability level and adapt my teaching methods to their interests, goals, learning style, and pace.
Students learn practical techniques while also developing:
- Creativity and imagination
- Observation and problem-solving skills
- Confidence in making artistic choices
- Understanding of the elements and principles of art
- Appreciation for their own individual style
A Typical Lesson
Each lesson may include:
1. A brief introduction to the artistic concept or technique
2. Examples and a teacher demonstration
3. Guided practice
4. Independent creative work
5. Supportive feedback and suggestions for improvement
6. Reflection and a plan for continued growth
Lessons can include drawing, painting, color theory, composition, mixed media, crafts, portfolio development, and creative exploration.

As a seasoned art educator, working artist, photographer, workshop facilitator, and intuitive creative guide, I understand that no two artists learn in exactly the same way. I create a welcoming, judgment-free environment where students feel comfortable experimenting, asking questions, making mistakes, and discovering what makes their artwork meaningful.
My goal is not to make every student create the same way—it is to provide the skills, encouragement, and guidance they need to become the artist they are meant to be.
