About Oscar
I’m an art historian with a Master’s degree from the University of Chicago and an Honors BA from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. My academic work spans contemporary art, museum studies, and early modern visual culture. I’ve worked with major museums, galleries, and artist estates in both the UK and the US, and I bring this hands-on experience into my teaching. Passionate about making art history accessible and intellectually engaging, I help students sharpen their analytical skills and develop a confident academic voice.

My teaching approach blends academic rigour with flexibility. I tailor each lesson to the student’s needs, whether it's building foundational visual analysis skills, refining essay arguments, or preparing for exams and interviews. Lessons typically begin with a focused discussion of a specific artwork, reading, or topic, followed by structured exercises that strengthen analytical writing, critical thinking, and historical context. Drawing on training from the Courtauld Institute of Art and the University of Chicago, I bring a dual perspective shaped by British and American academic traditions. I tutor all levels of candidates, and anyone seeking to improve their art historical understanding for coursework, applications, or independent study. I aim to make complex ideas accessible while cultivating each student’s unique voice and confidence.
