About Riley
Music has been my passion from a very young age. I started my musical journey on piano when i was 7 years old. I fell in love with string instruments, but always avoided guitar because of the overwhelming feeling of "where do i even start?" I have learned through time that you start by challenging yourself. Truthfully, the first time i picked up a guitar was to impress a girl at school. I worked hard to try and learn "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran, watching Youtube videos the entire way. In doing so, it exposed me to many difficult techniques, such as fingerpicking and chord shapes. Through repetition and practice (and the motivation of impressing my crush) i was able to see fast improvement. My skills/knowledge/techniques of the guitar have developed over the years simply by learning how to play songs i liked to listen to.

My method is to assess and analyze your current skill level while offering suggestions/providing you with resources to advance your learning. My knowledge of guitar ranges from beginning to advanced techniques, including:
-scales, chords, modes
-picking/strumming techniques
-music theory (including improvisation, creating/writing music)
-acoustic/electric (including amp settings/effects, different types of guitars/strings/tones)
-general finger exercises to improve dexterity
-guitar fretboard navigation and how it relates to a piano keyboard
