About Ian
My passion for architecture began with an interest in how spaces influence human experience. I completed a B.Arch followed by an M.Arch in Architectural Design, studying both conceptual and technical aspects of the field. Over 7 years, I have guided students through creative development with patience and encouragement. I teach with openness and adaptability, focusing on helping students understand design logic and express ideas clearly. Through sketches, stepwise design exercises, and discussion, learners gain confidence in translating ideas into structured forms. Many students grow significantly in creative confidence through consistent support. Outside teaching, I stay engaged with architecture through design research, sketching, and sustainability studies. These experiences enrich my lessons and provide real-world relevance. Teaching architecture is meaningful because I witness students discover and trust their creative potential.

Architecture becomes inspiring when students understand how ideas evolve into meaningful spaces. In my lessons, I introduce design thinking, spatial reasoning, conceptual sketching, material awareness, and visual communication through supportive, structured guidance. I encourage students to balance creativity with logic, helping them develop designs that are expressive, functional, and coherent. Lesson structure varies by experience level. Beginners focus on sketching fundamentals, proportion, spatial awareness, and idea exploration. Intermediate learners develop design concepts, model-building skills, and visual presentation techniques. Advanced learners work on project development, portfolio organisation, and architectural storytelling. Each lesson blends discussion, hands-on work, and feedback to strengthen confidence and clarity. Architecture lessons also foster creativity, observation, and critical thinking. Students learn to articulate ideas visually and approach design challenges thoughtfully. My goal is to help learners build a strong creative identity while developing disciplined design habits that support long-term growth.
