About Theo
I’m a recent graduate of Trinity College, University of Cambridge, reading Middle Eastern Studies (Arabic, History and politics of the Middle East) and Modern and Medieval Languages (French and Francophone Literature), and will be continuing with a master's in Francophone and Arabic thought and literature at Cambridge next year. Former Academic Scholar at Merchant Taylors' School Northwood with A*s in History, French, Spanish and EPQ A-Level. I’ve worked as a tutor since 2022, supporting students in A-Level and Pre-U French, Spanish, History and Government and Politics. I also specialise in Oxbridge admissions preparation for MML (French), AMES (Middle Eastern Languages), and History—seven of my eight students have received post-interview offers from Oxford or Cambridge. Further to this I also have wide experience tutoring iGCSE and GCSE English Literature, English Language, French, Spanish and History. As a bilingual French speaker with experience studying at HEC Paris, the Sorbonne, and the University of Tunis, I bring academic depth, global perspective, and a clear, structured approach to tutoring. I achieved the top university-wide result in my final-year French oral examination at the University of Cambridge, and have consistently scored highly in literature, language, and history papers. Alongside my academic work, I’ve served as speakers officer of the Trinity Politics Society—organising high-profile speaker events—and was a Choral Scholar in the Trinity College Choir. Balancing these commitments has helped me become an efficient, empathetic and highly organised tutor. I aim to help each student build both subject mastery and long-term academic confidence. Whether you're aiming to refine essay skills, prepare for interviews, or improve exam performance, I bring calm, clarity, and experience to every session.

My teaching style is student-centred, rigorous, and supportive. I focus on building analytical confidence through clarity, structure, and tailored feedback. I break down complex ideas into accessible parts and work closely with students to ensure they not only understand the material but can apply it critically and independently. In practice, I use a combination of Socratic questioning, model essays, comparative textual analysis, and timed exercises to develop both exam technique and conceptual depth. I frequently assign short, focused written tasks between sessions to reinforce key skills and diagnose areas for improvement. With language students, I combine immersive spoken work with grammatical precision and culturally grounded reading materials. Whether preparing for an interview, refining an essay, tackling unseen texts, or nailing an A-level/GCSE curriculum, I encourage students to articulate their ideas clearly, justify their reasoning, and develop their own academic voice. I’m approachable and adaptable, and I create a space where pupils feel confident asking questions and taking intellectual risks. I have over 80 hours tutoring experience since late 2022, from iGCSE/GCSE/A-level to University undergraduate studies. I have had experience tutoring for a wide range of A-level and GCSE/iGCSE examination boards. 7/8 former Oxbridge preparation students received a post-interview offer at Oxbridge, with 6/8 make their final A-level grades to secure their places. I am a graduate of Trinity College Cambridge where I received the top mark across the entire University of Cambridge in my French Oral exam in my finals. Lessons are usually anywhere between 1 hr and 2 hrs and I am very flexible on timings, and are aimed at GCSE students through to A-level/UCAS students. I hope to be helping you on your academic journey soon! Theo
