About Torrey
I am a professor of English literature with 10 years experience teaching at the post-secondary level. I have a Master of Arts in English and a BA in English and creative writing. I've worked as a tutor in a college language center, have tutored privately and have taught English as a second language to individuals and small groups.

I enjoy discussing literary texts and prompting students to develop and defend their own interpretations, whether it be orally or through formal academic writing. I focus on the revision process in essay writing, which enables my students to gain critical distance from their their work and see it from the perspective of the reader/audience. This is a key element to effective written and spoken communication and helps make your great ideas shine!
