About Grace

I am a third year at University of Cincinnati majoring in physics an animation. I have taken all the calculuses up to multi variable and earned an A as well as a 5 on the advanced placement exam in high school.
I have learned that the hardest part of math is comprehending what you are actually doing. I have found students learn best when they are able to relate their school material to their real world. In the case of calculus or the study of instantaneous velocity, students are confronted with position, velocity, and acceleration diagrams as well as integrals etc. If a student is unclear about what they are solving for in relation to the real world, the only thing they can do is memorize the problem and how to solve it step by step.
This approach is time consuming, frustrating, and unsustainable especially in college. I aim to teach students how to extrapolate their current knowledge into a useful way.

About the lesson

The first session is like a consultation where I get to know the student and review their course material so I can familiarize myself with their material.
After the first session, I will help student with their homework in an in depth and comprehensible way. As well as teach the student how to study for each class based on my experience.
If the student is looking for enrichment in addition to their assigned course work, I have found several opportunities for advanced students to practice their skills.
I aim to teach students math by strengthening their foundation and critical thinking skills, so each student can solve problems and not just memorize material.
