About Mamet

I am Mohammad Monem, a script writer and a playwright. I teach play writing and script writing in Tehran University of art for almost 3 years. This workshop will be in two phases and each phase will be in eight 4-hour sessions. I have participated in Royal Court New Writing Workshop with Mark Ravenhill, and Zinnie Harris and it's been 3 years that I have been teaching play writing and script writing in Tehran University of Art.

About the lesson

My teaching method is based on more practical exercises and less theoretical discussions, but we will work on both of them. I also insist to trust your instinctive aspects for writing your first draft and let your unconscious drive you at first steps; As Hemingway said "Write drunk, Edit sober", we will try to write the first draft "drunk" without drinking alcohol.

I highly recommend Mamet for playwriting. I know Mamet for years, you can see his passion for playwriting through everything he does. He is gifted and he has sharpened his skills over years and now he is tutoring which means his skills are available to others to learn from.
He is a patient teacher with a good sense of humour which put you on ease. I found him always happy to go the extra mile to make sure the job is properly executed in the best possible quality.
