About Lines

I love teaching and have been doing it for as long as I can remember, ever since I learned something worth sharing. And yet, because of that, I am well aware that no lesson worth learning can be teached. My aim therefore is to facilitate (and make possible even) a hazardous path that will be worth walking and learning from.

I’ve been teaching for 8 years, two of them as an assistant professor. I enjoy getting to know my students, tailoring the materials to their needs and character. Planning and organizing as we weave time and knowledge together. As I get to share this path with them, learning from them just as much as they learn from me, I am in awe at our capacity to shape and be shaped.

About the lesson

Spanish comes in many forms and, although all of them are valid, I find it best for students to be grounded in the idiosyncrasy of a particular place, rather than being deterritorialized by a globalist approach.

I teach andalusian: a language that serves as a reflection of the minute complexities of the spanish tongue. It was from Andalusia from where the first ships sailed to colonize the Americas… and it was, too, the first territory to be colonized by the spanish inside their own peninsula. As it stands, the andalusian worldview is an intersectional one, intersected by miryad identities, movements and historical currents. By learning the language and culture, you will have access to a pool of sensitive knowledge that will shape your perception and your inner landscape as you relate to the world. It will be a second map of pathways, pushing your ever expanding neuroplasticity to new frontiers.

The classes are designed for students with an intermediate/advanced level in spanish, which doesn’t have to be andalusian.

We’ll be covering vocabulary, grammar and conversation with a diversity of methodologies which include: accompanying me in my walks through the Alhambra, reading andalusian poetry, conversing about spanish history, writing love letters and studying the classics. We will learn spanish, literature, philosophy, poetry, and other disciplines that inform and shape the andalusian spirit.

Since I travel multiple times a month between the states and Spain, I do some of my classes online at a reduced rate. My rate for the 5 and 10 hour package online is 150$ and 260$ respectively.

All the books and exercises will be provided in pdf or ePub format for no added cost.
