About Heather
I am a Anthropology PhD student who has taught Anatomy and Physiology for the past two years. My class size is typically around 25 students. One of my classes last semester ended up being over capacity as my students from the previous semester requested to join my section. My students tend to get good grades as I am always willing and able to help when needed.

I believe that no matter what subject you are teaching, critical thinking and the expertise to express the conclusions made based upon that thinking should be at the forefront of the instruction. While teaching an anthropology course, I believe it is imperative not only for the students to understand the material but to be able to apply the greater lessons being taught by that material to different situation, including their own lives. I believe that it is only by using an array of different teaching techniques that this type of learning can be achieved. My teaching philosophy is forthright, through the use of multiple different teaching methods and assessment my students are able develop critical thinking and listening skills. I am constantly looking for new and exciting ways of engaging the students with the material. I believe that creating an open and safe environment for students to learn is crucial while at the same time pushing the students to think outside of their comfort zone. Through these techniques, I feel that it will allow them to problem solve more effetely throughout the rest of their life as well as learn empathy.
