About Caitlin
I have been teaching history and civics for 13+ years in the DC area. I am passionate about establishing and meeting student goals, tailoring lessons to students' learning needs, and having some fun along the way. As a full-time content and special education teacher, I firmly believe that, even if learning is hard, we can all learn hard things. In addition to my full-time work, I tutor students at the high school, college and adult levels and enjoy creating bespoke, flexible curriculums that meet students' needs, wants, and learning goals.

Hello!
My name is Caitlin and I have been teaching bespoke lessons in history, civics and social studies for over a decade. I love co-designing my curriculum with students so that their interests are woven in to our lessons, as well as tailoring lessons to a students' learning style, profile and preferences. During the day, I work with students with a wide-range of language-based learning disabilities, which gives me a unique skill set in meeting the needs of any student, breaking down complex events and concepts into easy-to-understand chunks, and ensuring strong comprehension along with meeting student goals.
My ideal student is a high school, college or adult student who is has a particular goal in mind (even if that goal is "I want to learn more about..." or "I want to understand why...."!) is interested in a tailored curriculum that addresses their specific needs and desires, and doesn't mind a few laughs alongside their learning.
