About Julio

Born in the USA with Brazilian parents, we moved back to Brazil when I was about 4 years old. That allowed me to learn Portuguese as a second language in a natural way, which left me with no noticeable accent.
Growing up, I always preferred to consume American content in English, as it felt better to me. That kept me from losing my first language.
Later on, I studied Journalism in College, which forced me to learn Portuguese grammar thoroughly.
After working as a Journalist for several years, I decided to give online teaching a try, and totally fell in love with the job. I've been teaching English for over 2 years now and am dedicated to starting with Portuguese now.

About the lesson

I like to get people communicating in the new language quickly.
I help the person say whatever they're trying to say by letting them blemish and make as many mistakes as necessary, correcting them as we go.
One of my favorite methods is using music to help teach a new language. The vocabulary and sentence structures can really stick to the brain when coupled with a nice melody.
Videos and other forms of online content are also good material for picking up a new language.
Classes should be fun, I try to keep it light and balanced.
