About Paula
Hi! I’m Paula
I’m an American English teacher who loves helping students feel comfortable and confident speaking English.
My lessons are friendly, patient, and encouraging. We can work on conversation, pronunciation, vocabulary, reading, or everyday English—and I’ll adapt our lessons to your level, interests, and goals. Since I live on a farm my lessons are filled with real life farm adventures. I also hold three degrees: math, chemistry and biology so I am very versed in the sciences. I am also a cytotechnologist.
I work with children, teens, and adults, from beginners to students who simply want more opportunities to practice speaking naturally.

I bring 9 years of online ESL teaching experience, with more than 10,081 classes taught to 2,385 students from a wide range of ages, English levels, and learning styles.
My teaching approach is patient, encouraging, and student-centered. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable enough to speak, make mistakes, ask questions, and try again. I adapt my lessons to each student's individual needs, interests, goals, and learning style rather than using the same approach for everyone.
My areas of ESL instruction include conversational English, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, listening, and speaking fluency. I particularly enjoy helping students become more confident using English in real conversations.
In addition to my professional teaching experience, I homeschooled seven children, including a child with special needs. This experience taught me the importance of patience, flexibility, creativity, and recognizing that every learner progresses differently. It also gave me extensive experience adapting instruction when a traditional teaching method isn't working.
After thousands of online lessons, one thing has remained at the heart of my teaching philosophy: students don't need to be afraid of making mistakes. Mistakes are part of learning. My goal is to create a supportive classroom where students feel comfortable speaking English and can steadily build both their skills and their confidence.
