About John
Hello! I’m an American English teacher with 15 years of experience helping students develop their English from A1 all the way to C2. I specialize in advanced English and IELTS preparation, using CEFR levels and official IELTS grading criteria to give students a clear understanding of where they are and what they need to improve.
I have a teaching degree from Anadolu University and a Cambridge CELTA certification. Over the years, I’ve taught university students, high school students, children, and adult learners in both classroom and online settings. I have also written course books for language centers in Turkey, self-help books focused on English speaking practice, and over 100 children’s books designed for English translation practice.
Teaching is not just about grammar and vocabulary for me. I believe students learn best when lessons are creative, practical, and connected to real life. My own experiences in education, writing, and life give me plenty of stories and examples to make English more meaningful and memorable.
I’m patient, understanding, and serious about helping my students reach their goals, but I also want my students to feel comfortable around me. I believe a good teacher should be someone you can learn from while still feeling like you can have a genuine conversation with them.
Whether your goal is achieving a higher IELTS score, improving your academic English, becoming more confident speaking, or simply taking your English from advanced to truly fluent, I’d be happy to help you get there.

My lessons are designed around your goals, your current CEFR level, and the specific skills you need to improve. Whether you are preparing for IELTS, developing advanced academic English, or simply want to become more confident speaking, we build the lessons around you.
For IELTS students, I use the official IELTS assessment criteria to identify exactly where you can gain points and build targeted practice around those areas. We work on speaking, writing, reading, and listening through realistic tasks, detailed feedback, and practical strategies.
A typical lesson combines conversation, focused instruction, exercises, and real-world examples. I believe English should be something you actually use, not simply memorize, so my lessons are creative, practical, and connected to everyday life.
I teach students from A1 to C2, with particular experience working with high school and university students. Lessons are available both online and in person. My goal is to create an environment where you can challenge yourself, make mistakes without embarrassment, ask questions freely, and leave every lesson knowing something you didn’t know before.
