About Peter
I studied biology as an undergrad at University of Illinois at Chicago, and then spent four years teaching a mix of middle-school science, freshman biology, and eventually AP biology. Teaching had its thrills, but I ultimately craved the research side of things, and am currently in a PhD program for molecular biology in Chicago. Importantly, I love talking about biology!! My wife and I still live in the Chicago suburbs, and if I'm not doing research, I'm probably hanging out with her and my family :)

As a teacher, I spent a LOT of time writing my own tests, revising them based on what students found confusing, and even making my own assignments very similar to the ones you probably do in class. Many tutors may have great expert knowledge, but not be able to communicate that expertise to someone that just started learning this subject less than a year ago!
As a teacher I got the full perspective on how students see biology when they are just starting out. My track record also proves it, since 70% of students got 5's on their AP Bio exam!
My specialty would be in anything related to cell biology, or genetics. If you're a high school bio student, I can pretty much help you with anything (except for maybe ecology).
During a typical lesson, you can either bring a specific assignment you need help with, or simply bring a topic you need more explanation for, and I can take the lead. I am a very easy-going, friendly guy, so we can go with the flow!
