My teaching approach for Algebra is focused on building a strong foundation in manipulation and simplification of algebraic expressions. I begin with basic factorization techniques, including taking out common factors, grouping, difference of squares, sum and difference of cubes, and factorization of quadratic trinomials. I teach algebraic identities such as (a+b)^2, (a-b)^2, a^2-b^2, (a+b)^3, (a-b)^3, and a^3+b^3, and show how they are used to simplify complex expressions and solve equations quickly. I cover simplification of rational expressions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of algebraic fractions, and solving equations involving rational expressions. I also cover simplification of expressions with exponents and radicals. I use plenty of worked examples and provide step-by-step solutions to build confidence. I assign homework that balances routine practice and challenging problems. I conduct weekly quizzes to track progress and identify weak areas. I also provide tips for avoiding common mistakes, such as sign errors and misapplication of identities. I maintain a progress log for each student and adjust my teaching pace accordingly. I also use visual aids like factor trees and color-coded steps to make the process clearer. My goal is to make you confident in simplifying and factoring algebraic expressions.
