About Ayleen
Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile! I have loved history since I was young enough to remember. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in history and went on to teach 11th grade American History for many years. I have taught it at many levels, including Honors and Advanced Placement. I have had very high passing rates on both state exams (like the EOC), and the Advanced Placement exams. I have had many students that started my class saying they did not like history, they did not understand, and they were worried they would not pass the exams. By the end of the course, not only did the pass the exams but they ended up enjoying it as much as I did. I have a passion for American History that I want to pass on to my students, that is my main goal every year. Some of the first students I ever taught still communicate with me, thanking me for inspiring the knowledge and passion for history that they still carry on until today!

My passion for history as well as my successful experience teaching it, will be a contributing factor to your success in understanding and mastering the topic once we start our tutoring sessions! I combine different approaches that have been proven to be effective and successful especially in a discipline such as American History. These include the Visual approach, where I connect what we are discussing to primary sources such as pictures, artifacts or written work of the time. I also use the Auditory approach, where we discuss what was just taught. I also use the Reading/ Writing approach. History is a topic that is heavy on research, and most College Board exams require a lot of writing. I will teach how to write an essay that will provide you a passing score on these exams. I also use the Kinaesthetic approach where we will make connections to the concept that was just taught, and make American History not only an interesting topic, but one that you will love.
