About Hillary

I have a long background in accounting, finance, and business, and I specialize in turning confusing topics into clear, practical explanations that finally make sense. Whether you are working on financial accounting, managerial accounting, finance, management, or exam prep, I focus on a clear, structure, and making sure you are confident in what you are learning, not stressed about it.

I did not start my career in a classroom, I started in the real world. I use that experience to teach accounting the way it is actually used.+

I work comfortably with financial accounting, managerial accounting, bookkeeping, journal entries, and financial statements. My focus is on helping students understand what the numbers mean and how they connect, not just how to plug them into formulas.

Hi! I’m Hillary, an accounting tutor who helps students stop fearing numbers and start actually understanding them.

Yes, that is possible, and no, you do not need to be a “math person.”

My teaching style is patient, organized, and very student-centered. I believe accounting is not about memorizing rules, it is about understanding how money really moves through a business. Once that clicks, everything changes.

Outside of teaching, I love research, writing, my dogs, problem solving, and building systems that make complicated things easier. Basically, I enjoy untangling messes, and yes, I bring that same energy into every lesson.

On our trial lessons we will go over your learning goals, your learning styles, and how our sessions can help. I do not do homework help or exam prep on the trial lesson. I do not do one-off lessons.

I work comfortably with financial accounting, managerial accounting, bookkeeping, journal entries, and financial statements. My focus is on helping students understand what the numbers mean and how they connect, not just how to plug them into formulas.

My teaching style is structured but relaxed. I explain concepts step by step, use real examples, and adjust to how each student learns. Questions are always welcome, and mistakes are part of the process.

In my lessons, you can expect clear explanations, practical examples, and support without pressure.

My goal is simple: help you understand accounting well enough to trust yourself with it.

If accounting has ever made you feel confused, overwhelmed, or convinced you are “just not good at it,” I promise you are not alone, and I promise it does not have to stay that way.

When you learn with me, you are learning how the system works, why it works, and how to use it with confidence. My goal is to help you feel calm, capable, and in control of the numbers instead of intimidated by them.

Whether you are preparing for an exam, catching up in class, or trying to finally understand accounting for work or personal goals, I will meet you where you are and help you move forward at your pace.
