About Margot
I am a dedicated violin tutor with 15+ years of teaching experience, having taught around 300 students from beginner to intermediate levels, including high school students, college learners, and adults. My teaching philosophy is based on clear communication, patience, and consistent practice, as I believe these are the keys to success in learning music.
I focus on building strong basics such as posture, finger placement, bow control, and sound quality, while also encouraging students to express themselves through music. I design lessons according to each student’s level and pace, making sure they progress steadily.
I also include exercises and songs that keep lessons engaging. One of my key achievements is helping students gain confidence and perform comfortably. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel motivated and enjoy the process.

I follow a student-focused approach in teaching violin that emphasises communication, adaptability, and practical engagement. I observe each student’s learning style, strengths, and goals to customise lessons that maximise understanding and growth.
I teach fundamental techniques such as posture, bowing, fingering, tone production, intonation, phrasing, and expressive skills while nurturing creativity and personal interpretation. Real-life examples, including performing favourite songs, playing along with recordings, and preparing for recitals, help make lessons meaningful and engaging.
Alongside violin, I teach music theory, rhythm exercises, ear training, sight-reading, and basic piano skills to create a holistic musical foundation. My goal is to foster confidence, skill, and a lasting passion for music.
