My Teaching Method: French Lessons & Academic Support

1. French lessons :)
I believe the best way to learn French is by using it! My lessons are interactive, personalized, and designed to help you feel confident speaking from day one.

For intermediate and advanced learners, each lesson includes:
- A new conversation topic every class, based on your interests or goals (travel, work, culture, current events, hobbies, etc.).
- A warm-up conversation to build fluency using everyday French: greetings, "How are you?", the weather, what you did yesterday, and any questions you have about French culture, vocabulary, or places to visit (for example, in Montréal or other French-speaking regions).
- Personalized vocabulary. Before each lesson, I may prepare a vocabulary list tailored to the day's topic. Together, we could expand and complete it throughout our conversation.
- Grammar in context : After speaking, we'll review the grammar that naturally came up during the lesson so you can immediately apply what you've learned.
- Writing practice : At the beginning of the next lesson, you'll answer a short writing prompt related to our previous discussion. This helps reinforce new vocabulary and grammar while developing your written expression.
- Feedback at the end of every lesson : We'll take a few minutes to discuss what you enjoyed most and what you'd like to improve or explore in future classes.

Learning French Through Art:

One of my favorite ways to teach French is through art and authentic cultural materials. Language comes alive when you experience it in context!

Depending on your level, we might use:

- Songs with "fill-in-the-blank" listening activities.
- Paintings to inspire discussions and describe emotions, colors, and stories.
- Movie or TV clips to improve listening comprehension and discover everyday expressions.
- Short videos, articles, or poems to introduce new vocabulary and cultural insights.

This approach makes learning more enjoyable while helping you develop listening, speaking, and critical thinking skills.

For Complete Beginners:

If you're just starting, don't worry! I'll first assess your current level to understand what you already know.

We'll build a strong foundation by learning:

- The French alphabet (using songs to make it memorable).
- French pronunciation, including tricky sounds such as *-elle*, *-eille*, *-ette*, and nasal vowels.
- Essential greetings and everyday expressions.
- Basic vocabulary through games, flashcards, and interactive activities.

Homework
To help you progress between lessons, I'll suggest enjoyable and manageable homework, such as:

- Reviewing and practicing the vocabulary from class (meaning, spelling, and pronunciation).
- Learning one fun fact about the French language or a French-speaking country.
- Watching a short video, listening to a song, or reading a short article that I'll send you.
- Thinking of a conversation topic you'd like to discuss in our next lesson.

My goal is to create a supportive, engaging environment where you feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and, most importantly, enjoying the process of learning French.

2. Academic support :)

In addition to French lessons, I also offer general academic support for students who need help with their schoolwork. Whether you're looking for guidance with homework, preparing for exams, improving your study methods, organizing assignments, or better understanding difficult concepts, I'm here to help.
