His students, spanning various levels and ages from beginners to professionals, undergo comprehensive preparation for exams, concerts, and competitions, showcasing ๐—ฒ๐˜…

Remarkably, ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฌ% of Maxim's ๐˜€๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐˜€ have attained a ๐— ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐˜ or ๐——๐—ถ๐˜€๐˜๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป rate in their ๐—š๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ exams, coupled with ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐—ถ๐—ป ๐—ฝ๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ผ ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ถ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€ across the UK.
Notably, one of his private students recently secured ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ฑ ๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐˜‡๐—ฒ at the

Maxim warmly welcomes ๐˜€๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐˜€ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น ๐—น๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—น๐˜€ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ฒ๐˜€, starting from 6 years old, to experience a lesson with him.

Recognising the uniqueness of each student, Maxim believes in tailoring his approach to meet ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐˜‚๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ๐˜€.
For instance, with ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐˜‚๐—น๐˜ ๐˜€๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐˜€, he emphasises the use of ๐—ถ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ถ๐—ป ๐—บ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ฐ while helping them understand the ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—ฟ'๐˜€ ๐˜€๐˜๐˜†๐—น๐—ฒ in their performed works.
However, he acknowledges that such an approach may not be suitable for teaching young pianists.

Above all, Maxim strives to instil a ๐—น๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—บ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ฐ and the ๐—ฝ๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ผ itself in his students, placing significant importance on finding the right approach to ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ฒ and ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—ฝ๐˜๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ young learners from the outset.
In his classes, students not only find enjoyment but also derive

For Maxim, teaching is not merely about fostering the development of a student as a pianist; it is an opportunity to enhance his own skills as a ๐—ฝ๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜€๐˜, ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฟ, and ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜๐—ถ๐˜€๐˜.

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

When I was 4 years old, my mother enrolled me in local music school to have piano lessons as well as pop vocal training at the Childrenโ€™s Musical Theater โ€˜Domisolkaโ€™ in Moscow.

As my mother tells me now, the reason for this was that when I was only 5 months old, I could perfectly sing along to all the Beatles songs my father used to listen to at home.

My father was a huge Beatles fan, and since I turned out to have perfect pitch, my mother decided to send me to a music school.

After several years of studying pop and then classical singing alongside the piano, I eventually shifted my focus entirely to the piano when my voice broke, at the age of 9.
  • Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

As a professional musician, I like to think of my musical tastes as limitless.

When I was in secondary school in Moscow, I loved everything - from Russian pop-rock to rap, R&B, and American pop music.

But when I entered the Academic Music College at the Moscow Conservatory at 15, I went through a phase of listening exclusively to classical music - literally nothing else - for a whole year.

These days, Iโ€™m really passionate about jazz.

My Apple Music playlists are full of artists like George Duke, George Benson, and Grover Washington, and I could listen to them on a loop without ever getting tired.

When it comes to classical music, my favorite composers are Bach, Beethoven, Rachmaninov, Liszt, and Prokofiev.

And Iโ€™m also absolutely in love with Queen.

Freddie Mercury is, in my opinion, one of the greatest pop singers of the 20th century.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

The most challenging and exciting course I could give a student - strange as it may sound - is to teach them how to work at the piano independently, without a teacher.

To me, this is the very essence of musical education.

A true teacher isnโ€™t just someone who helps a student learn a few specific pieces.

They give them the knowledge and understanding to be able to work on their own.

This includes working on musical details in pieces, such as dynamics, touch, phrasing, articulation, technical development through scales and arpeggios, as well as a system for improving sight-reading skills, which ultimately leads to a comprehensive and step-by-step development of the student.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

One of the greatest pianists of all time, Vladimir Horowitz, once said:
โ€œThe piano is the easiest instrument to play in the beginning, and the hardest to master in the end.โ€

I completely agree with this statement.

The piano is indeed one of the easiest instruments to start with: you produce sound instantly by pressing a key, the keyboard provides a clear visual layout of notes and harmony, and it allows you to create a full, rich sound from the very beginning.

However, true mastery of the piano requires many years of dedicated work on much more subtle aspects of playing, such as technique, dynamic control, fingering, articulation, and coordination.

All of this must be combined with a deep understanding of musical meaning, expression, and stylistic versatility.
  • What are your keys to success?

My keys to success as a concert pianist have always been doing my absolute best at every competition and concert I have performed in.

I strive to communicate with people through music, to bring fresh ideas to well-known pieces, while remaining true to the style of the music I play.

Sometimes I succeeded, sometimes I failed, but the result of this mindset was remarkable.

I became one of the most successful young concert pianists in the UK in a short period of time.

When it comes to my work as a teacher, my keys to success lie in combining 4 essential aspects of pedagogy:

    1. Ability to explain in a way that guarantees the student clearly understands what is expected of them, and verifying that understanding.

    2. Achieving results.

    3. Working in a way that ensures the achieved results are retained over the long term.

    4. Being patient while sharing passion.

When all 4 are successfully combined, success is guaranteed.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

Of course, I wouldnโ€™t want to meet anyone in a bar early in the morning - at that time, Iโ€™m usually asleep!

If weโ€™re talking seriously, Iโ€™d love to sit down with Liszt and Tchaikovsky over a glass of wine and gain an even deeper insight into their personalities and what they truly wanted to express through their music.

Iโ€™d also be thrilled to meet Freddie Mercury and talk about how he found so many fresh musical ideas, because I have enormous respect for him as a musician.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

Once my professor at the Moscow Conservatory, Sergei Dorensky, told me a funny story about his concert tour in Rio de Janeiro after winning 2nd Prize at the Rio de Janeiro International Piano Competition in 1957.

On the day of his concert, another uprising broke out in the city, and his performance was initially going to be cancelled.

The uprising was suppressed a few hours later, but my professor, Sergei Dorensky, was so frightened that throughout his entire solo recital he kept playing on stage as if dodging โ€œpossible bulletsโ€, because he thought that armed people might have entered the hall and started shooting at him.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

As a pianist who graduated with Distinction from the Moscow Conservatory and with a Gold Medal from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, I have absorbed the best of both the Russian and British systems of musical education, which makes me a versatile piano teacher.

Each system has its own strengths and weaknesses.

For example, in Russia students are taught things that are not taught in the UK, and vice versa.

Because of this, I understand the weaknesses of my students here in the UK, know exactly what needs to be improved, and how to apply an approach based on these two systems to support a childโ€™s all-round development from the very first days of playing the piano.
